Chana Dal are dried brown chickpeas which have been halved and skinned. They cook quicker than chickpeas and have a nutty flavour. They can be used in curries, soups and salads, or stewed with meats. If adding them to soups and stews they thicken the dish if left cooking for more than 30 minutes.
