Nestled in the Central Colombia Andes mountains, between the Parques Nacionales Natural Nevado and the Parque Nacional Natural Cordillera De Los Pichachos, Tolima is one of Colombia's most isolated coffee-producing regions. Accessible primarily through the town of Coyaima via dirt roads, it's a challenging 12-hour journey from Ibague, the provincial capital.
The Planadas area of Tolima is home to 48 coffee-producing hamlets, encompassing 6,821 small farms ranging from 0.5 to 6 hectares. These communities are renowned, and now gaining recognition, for producing some of Colombia’s finest Specialty Micro-lot coffees.
Enriched volcanic soils and fresh mountain streams contribute to the unique terroir of the region.
